See file S811cjc.j, edited to removed q-log U809 see U809cJC2.j .rd S729 .ri cJC -sg gB and fAB met with the J06 team members (pC, cJC, hQ, eA, dH) to decide how to best proceed with J07. It was decided that we would collect only the shape sherds and painted sherds from the q-lots. Additionally, new q-lots would only be assigned when a large zambil is full or when the feature changes. We will change features arbitrarily every 50cm. The idea is that this will roughly follow the strategy laid out by gB in justification for using a backhoe at the site. .rd S802 .ri cJC -dy Today work continued in k1, k2, k3 and new workmen were assigned to open k4 and k5 to the north. Because the workmen have come down on some sherd layers and some bricks we have changed strategy. bP came and put some new points so we can remove k5 which is the protruding piece to the east of the cement staircase. -sg Originally we planned to go deep in k1, k2 and k3 but because the workmen need more supervision than is available from the people in J6 a new plan will be implemented. Instead of going down further in k1, k2 and k3 these squares will be stopped at 130cm below the surface. The east baulks of the k1 and k2 will be aligned by removing a meter to the east in k2 and then k3 and k4 will also be aligned in the east. This will allow the east section to be drawn with the maximum alignment of the drawing. -wk A new workman, Ibrahim Musa (iIM), was assigned to do q-lots and feature assignments in J07. hQ reviewed the procedure with him. He will also separate the body and shape sherds. f 13 ;df lb ds concentrated accumulation of sherds, pebbles and bones. There seems to be a defined area where this surface appears. It is not a pavement because the sherds are not laying flat but rather are at oblique angles. When removed it seemed to be more than one layer of sherds, possibly indicating a dump. nr This accumulation was recorded separate from the arbitrary assignment of 50 cm features in the rest of the area due to its concentrated and its makeup which clearly distinguished it from the surrounding accumulations. P1 removed S802 .rd S803 .ri cJC -dy Today we added another workman. Work continues in the western meter of k2 to make the west section in line with the west section in k1. Two pickmen and their teams worked in k4 and the additional workmen continued work in k5. Ibrahim (iIM) is here today to assign q-lots and features. f 1 ds Arbitary 50 cm feature.
