Recovery/Assignment

Roster Date Author Record
Daily notes about recovery of elements 2001-07-28 lR While removing the pit fill of a13 in k6, the remains of a tannur were found in the Southeast corner. This tannur is lying in place and appears that it was cut by the large pit a13. We are leaving this tannur in place and continuing to excavate the material around it. In A15 they also found a tannur at a similar elevation. [Input: L728LR.j]
2001-08-02 lr We have pedestaled the tannur f180 located in the Southeast corner of k108 and currently are 260cm down from the beginning of the pit a13. [Input: L815LR.j]
2002-09-03 lR After reviewing the material from last season it has come to our attention that the tannur has not been relayed nor photographed. Today we cleaned the area around the tannur and scraped the walls around it for the photograph. While doing this a jar 20 cm below emerged along with a burial. A photograph was taken of this and tomorrow BP will survey it in using the GTS since it is too high to measure with our relay rod. The material inside the tannur was also excavated and did not warrant a new feature since it appears that the tannur collapsed on itself and thus no inner material remained. [Input: M903LR.j]

Notes on time sequencing 2001-07-29 lR These hollows a13 provided a ground for dumping which was filled up with 5a material but in the lower end of the hallow we find strata 4 material underneath. This level may be the stratum to which the tannur f180 and the accumulation around it belong. fab mentioned that the tannur may be related to the tannur found in A12, which was on top of the palace wall.
