Overview
Type numbers are used to distinguish variations within a specific code type. The numbers are assigned sequentially in the field as they are identified and thus the type 1 of a particular code combination is not related to a type 1 of a different code combination. Some codes have only a few types, while others have more variation and therefore more type numbers assigned. A full list of types by code is given in the shapes-codes page.
