Typological reasons for assignment 2012-10-07 jW Ceramics were all Late Chalcolithic or earlier. All but one item were Uruk seal impressions, sealings, or clay lumps. [Input: WX07JW.j]
Other reasons, reservations, qualifications 2012-10-07 jW The presence of LC and Uruk material so close to the surface and in accumulations dated to the Mittani period can be best explained by assuming that the much earlier material was brought to the Mittani surface by people who dug below the EDIII glacis f109, perhaps as a result of construction or grave preparation. As stated for the stratum assignments of pits and fills, we cannot say with certainty when between the EDIII and Mittani periods the digging took place, so we assigned the later strata.
