Stamp seals

In J2 there are 2 stamp seals with striking similarities. Although they are created from both clay and stone they display a similar conical shape and have concentric rings as their stamp pattern. See q385.1, q1.2. Additionally, q645.1 displays the same shape but with a radial pattern instead of concentric circles. Also, q206.3 is another stamp seal with concentric circle pattern but with a cylindrical “handle” instead of the conical shape found on the other three.

The sealings as objects

There are sealings both with and without iconographic details. Some of the sealings do not preserve any indication of stamp or cylinder seal impressions but preserve the material to which they were sealed. These examples include:

Other sealings have fragments of iconography preserved. These scenes are varied and described by mKB under each particular item.
