Description (summary) 2004-06-23 jw distinct region of moist, fine-grained, reddish brown soil in the NE quadrant of k13. Also delimits the place where we found a large number of identical clay objects. [Input: O624JW2.j]
2004-06-24 jw this feature is a horizontal layer of brown soil, markedly differing from the topsoil which covers it, f176. f176 is dry, light, more yellow, follows the slope of the gully, and is filled with layers of roots from successive periods of gully wash and plant growth. f181 also has, within its matrix, a relatively large number of sherds and clay artifacts, previously described. 2004-07-06 jw Accumulation in the NE quadrant of k13, partially sealed, from which over 200 oblong clay objects and raw clay were found. Although there was no horizontal containment, there is a strong suggestion that this was a concentrated industrial activity. The locus is in the middle of the sacral area, but the objects are most likely for secular use. [Input: O706JW2.j]

2004-07-06 jw It is important to know when the sacral function ended and analysis of the pottery from this feature should help to provide some definite confirmation of jw's estimate that this activity was conducted in Phase 4. Lots q449, q445, q437, q435, q432, and q430 should be analyzed. [Input: O706JW2.j]
