J4 in isolation
[highlight keywords, throughout; I have done it on this page]
J4 covers what can be considered a small area, enclosing the western bounderyboundary of wall J2f219. J4 does not have many structures and shows minimal use of the area.
<mark style=”background-color:burlywood;”[omit «br», add extra return – as in the following section]
Chronologically, it contains two stratighraphical phases, an Imperial AkkaddianAkkadian phase covered directly by Mittani depositions, to which belongs the structures and use phases of the area.

J4 within theits broader setting
The better understanding of the J4 findings came from viewing J4 in a larger frame, first within the light of the excavations in J6, and then as a part of the entire temple area in general.
The findings from J4 corraborate the understaning of the area east of the monumental staircase J2f130, as a service quarter where it was kept clean and empty throughout the use phases of the monumental access ,before the shift of the access to a smaller one found in excavation unit J5.
