Daily notes about recovery of elements 2008-08-05 lH After removing the soft chunky topsoil, f104, we found a hard crusted natural accumulation, 106. A big limestone sits in this new feature. The last mentioned stone is on the line of the stones of f14 in k24, even though it`s about 1 m higher. [Input: S805LH.j]
2008-08-06 jW At the beginning of the day, began to remove natural accumulation, f112, which was present throughout the locus and surrounded the stones of installation, f108. Uncovered a semi-circular arc of small stones, along the eastern baulk. [Input: S807JW.j]
2008-08-06 lH We continued excavating the hard crusted natural accumulation, f106, where we found two big limestones, f109, in the northwestern quadrant of this locus. In the next pick run we noticed that these two stones aren`t founded, but sits in f106. Also we found traces of another line of stones, f108, at the northern border of this locus on the line of the stones of f14 in k24, even though it`s about 1 m higher. [Input: S806LH.j]
2008-08-09 jW Continued to excavate natural accumulation, f112, with large picks. Documented and removed an arc of stones, f119, along the eastern baulk. Uncovered a stone installation, f123, running NW to SE in the southeastern quadrant. [Input: S809JW.j]
2008-08-14 jW We began to remove the safety baulk on the south side of the locus. We used features previously identified from excavation in the main part of the locus. One floor surface and what were probably crude walls associated with it were identifed near the end of the day. Features have not been assigned. The locus is filled with isolated limestone blocks and organized rows of stones which we have not been able to link with others nearby. [Input: S814JW.j]
2008-08-14 jW We prepared and photographed, v80, a long view looking east and west across 4 loci (k14, k24, k34, k44) that documented the relationship between the portion of the temple mound which includes the staircase, f21, and various stone installations in k14 and k24; the mini-plaza to the west in k34; and the stonework in k44 which forms the western boundary of the mini-plaza. dL analyzed the open spaces between the various stoneworks in k14 and k24 to see if they had been paved. [Input: S814JW.j]
2008-08-16 jW Took a series of photographs, v83, to document features excavated so far this season. [Input: S816JW.j]
