J3 is the area surrounding the portion of the Bronze Age Revetment Wall between units J2 to the north and J5 to the south. We examined how the wall was constructed and how it was maintained and protected from when it was constructed through the Mittani period when it was completely covered with aeolian soil.
We made a sounding on the Plaza to the east of the wall to explore the nature of the deposits above the original surface which we did not reach.
In season 23 we briefly excavated the north west part of the area to find the source of Late Chalcolithic pottery and found a corner of a public buillding carbon dated to the Late Chalcolithic period.
