2. IDENTIFICATION

Designation

Roster Date Author Record
Definition 2001-06-09 fAB ^ wall [Input: F-L819.j]
Description (summary) 2001-07-07 lR Mudbrick wall running from east to south extending out of the square and heavily eroded at the edge. The wall is terraced with only a few courses seen in section. The wall is 1.8 meters in thickness and may be two unbonded walls next to each other. [Input: L707LR.j]
2001-07-10 MISSING The southern internal mud-brick wall of structure a1, that runs from SW to NE. The wall measures 70 cm in width and 3m in length and extends outside the square k5 into the previously excavated area A10. It is assumed that this structure continued and was previously excavated. The remaining wall retains a terraced look and has been heavily eroded at the top with the most damage at the edge (in line with the slope of the area). It appears juxtaposed to the southern wall f142 and does not show any sign of bonding with the eastern wall f4. Only a few courses of bricks are seen in section, resting on the accumulation f24. [Input: L729SV.j]
2001-07-16 lR This wall after carefully removing the top bricks was found to actually contain two walls. The outer wall has been labeled f142 and the inner wall remained f5. In excavating the structure, it became evident that this wall does not bond with f4 wall and remains a separate wall either used for a buttress or to support the original wall. It is presumed that the wall was constructed after f142. [Input: L818LR.j]

3. STRATIGRAPHY

Recovery/Assignment

Roster Date Author Record
Daily notes about recovery of elements 2001-07-16 lR After careful examination of this wall we have determined that it consists of two walls instead of the original one wall. This was revealed through removing the top few courses of bricks, which exposed clearly defined mortar lines delineating both walls. The outer wall has been labeled f142 and the inner wall remains f5. In excavating the structure, it became evident that this wall f5 does not bond with f4 wall and remains separate, likely used as a buttress to support the original wall. It is presumed that the wall f5 was constructed after f142. [Input: L818LR.j]
