eE |
small lead alloy fragment that may have come from a tool. It may also have been considered scrap to use for re-melting. Although the function is not clear, it is noteworthy that the alloy is harder than other lead pieces found earlier in the season. This may be a possible indicator that the lead was mixed with some other metal for added hardness, or that the dirt encrustation and oxidation surrounding the piece has greatly toughened the exterior. From one end, the material is subtly exposed to reveal the typical gray found in lead, so no visual evidence for a composite metal can yet be made. [Input: S813SE.j] |
