Surfaces

Surfaces are horizontal layers characterized by having upper and lower marked boundaries and are generally compacted so that they are easy to expose. We distinguish between floors and pavements. A floor is compacted by the walking by of people. It is characterized by different inclusions. We can have pebble floors, sherd floors, a mixture of both, or simply compacted earth. We can observe the horizontal laying of sherds. Floors are associated with structures and testify their use.

Floors

In J6 we encountered:

  1. Floors compacted with lot of small components as pebbles and sherds lying flat, limited at least from one side from walls: f129, f140, f157, f239, f240, f273, f277, f171, f184, f286, f303, f312.
  2. Floors compacted with few small components of small pebbles and sherds not bonded by walls: f46, f67, f147, f154.

In the foto to the right is possible to see a sequence of floors in J6 in front of the betili of the staircase wall and the staircase whith a long sequence of floors. See also deposition and typology for interpretation.
