2b. To rest on

Patrizia Camatta – January 2026

to rest on” is a type of contact used for isolated stones, that have probably collapsed from walls. We decided not to remove the stone until we were certain that it was not part of an installation. We ended up with a stone resting on a pillar of earth and the contact association used was “to rest on”. In reality the correct contact association for the stone in relation to the other feature is “sits in”.

The verb “to rest on” is correctly used for wall f127. It consists of a row of stones placed on top of glacis f63.
