Description (summary) | 2008-08-10 | cJC | This locus is extremely irregular. It is between the cement staircase and the trench that remains from the German excavation in area C2, now called J6k200. Because it has been cut both to the east and the west it is very narrow. In the north it is defined by markers m4834 and m4892 and is only about 50 cm wide. It retains the normal 5 meters north-south. At the southern edge it is 2 meters wide as defined by markers m4845 and m4891. [Input: S811CJC.j] |

Daily notes about recovery of elements | 2008-08-20 | cJC | We changed the shape of k5 today to reduce its size. It is straight on the western side and will no longer have an eastern baulk. [Input: S820CJC.j] |
2008-08-25 | cJC | Today we continued excavating the brickfall in this square. We excavated rapidly with three pickmen. A small cup was found in the northeast corner of the square (i2) and towards the end of the day a skull was found in the northwest corner (i3). lR came to identify the skull and she thinks it is human. She will excavate what is left this afternoon (it was partly damaged during excavation). If there is a body it likely continues into the north baulk and so we will have lR come and excavate it when we reach that level. [Input: S825CJC.j] |
