This feature number has been assigned to a temporary baulk within k84, which divides the southern from the northern portion of the locus. This feature is the same, stratigraphically, of f87 and f88, the natural accumulations dug in the northern portion of locus k84. These accomulations are all wind- and waterborn accumulations. f138 is very crumble and soft in consistence and is rich in pebbles and pottery sherds; once removed with the big pick, it presents a crumbly structure and is a bit dusty. In spite of the fact that this portion of the locus, kept until present, as a baulk consists of the sum of all the features dug in k84 (such as, f87, f88), we did not remove them stratigraphically once removing this baulk, because the features that build-up this portion of the locus are all very similar among them, being all natural accumulations (wind- and waterborn). We thus assigned a feature number to the baulk (being aware that, as such, f80 is an an 'artificial' feature) in order to keep track of the pottery and of eventual q-items or items recovered while removing the accumulations that build-up this portion of the locus [Input: U120SC.j] |
