This is the smooth, sloping face in k29. It is probably a cut for one of the small pits which mkb has argued are associated with the ritual in the api. However, unlike f447, it has shown no sign of a bottom, and stops on both sides, rather than curving around. If it was a pit, then the fill of the pit has been mixed in with f443, since we have not observed any distinction between the materials; however, it is possible that f434/f435/f441, the black seeds scattered around the locus, were possibly the top layer of the pit fill, sealing the pit and ending the ritual. A smooth, sloping surface in f433. It was mostly straight (following a NE-SW axis, except at the southwestern edge, where it bent outwards, to the west. We interpret it as a small pit cut, based on our interpretation of f447; the two features are essentially the same in appearance. However, f445 was much larger than f447, and continued below the level to which we excavated this season, so we have not found a bottom (if one exists). If it indeed was a pit, then this pit was much larger than a38. [Input: N825jl.j] |

We did not separate the fill of this presumed small pit from f443 because we could not; there was absolutely no distinction between any pit fill and the surrounding accumulation into which the pit had been cut, other than f445 itself (see v262). [Input: N827jl.j] |
