Introduction

For our approach to volumetry see the relevant section in the Grammar.

A12 was created during the 1999-J season when the semicircle of stones began to take shape in A10. Loci numbered 13-17, 19 and 18 in A10 were renamed k1-k5, k7 and k11 in A12. During the initial excavations in A12, k1, k2, and k3 became k16 and k8, k9, and k10 became k13. Adjacent loci through k22 were added in this season.

Main loci (squares)

In MZ13, as the structural components of the underground structure became apparent, loci were created to match the ābi. k23, k24, k25,k26, k27, and k25 aligned with the structure.

Special Loci: k26-k30

The square portion of the ābi was designated k26 and the circular portion as k27. Inside of the circle k30 is one meter thick and follows the stone wall. k29 is the internal locus which follows k30.

Special loci: k31-k33

k30 was divided into three smaller sections to excavate quite carefully this area of the ābi: k31 which is the eastern portion, k32 the central portion and, k33 the western portion.
