Human bones found in animal bone lots includes; three intermediate phalanges of the hand, one distal phalanx of the hand, left? lunate, left capitate , left trapezium, left metacarpal 1, left metacarpal 2, one intermediate phalanx of the foot, premolar tooth, incisor, and one distal phalanx #1 of foot. This bone lot had conflicting numbers. The bag was labeled as q665 belonging to f227 while the computer system listed q665 as f237. It is unclear where the mistake lies. I have changed the bag feature number to f237 however if q665 does in fact belong to f227 than this is quite significant since f227 is the fill from a child’s jar burial. While an adult human vertebra was found inside the burial jar as an offering, the presence of additional adult human bones inside the jar should be interpreted as part of the funerary context. Hopefully this problem can be solved by checking all the animal q-lots to see if there are more bags for f227. As it is now, I am assuming the problem was the initial labeling and decided to change the feature number to f237. [Input: UZ15MM.j] |
