Description (summary) | 2007-08-23 | jW | This horizontal deposit of baqaya, about 10 cm thick, was identified in a photograph, v144, of the sounding through the bottom of pit a10 in the NW corner of k23. It was not noticed during the excavation, probably because the space was very confined and we were hurrying to complete all excavations at the end of the week. [Input: R823JW.j] |

Stratigraphic reasons of assignment | 2012-10-07 | jW | Layer of baqaya in k23 atop layer f263. [Input: WX07JW.j] |
Typological reasons for assignment | 2012-10-07 | jW | No ceramics or items recovered. [Input: WX07JW.j] |
Other reasons, reservations, qualifications | 2012-10-07 | jW | Each of the three pits cut into the EDIII glacis (a5, a6, a10) was excavated below the cut to determine the date of features below. We anticipated that this material might be the source of the Late Chalcolithic sherds and Uruk seal impressions found in feature f252, above he pit cut of a10. The stratum assigned reflects an intermediate interval between LC3 and EDIII periods. [Input: WX07JW.j] |
