Overview

The earliest remains in J2 have been tentatively assigned to Phase 2 based on comparisons with other excavation units. Phase 2 is dated to the Late Chalocolithic 3 and the earliest walls associated with the temple terrace area (in J1 and J3) are dated to this phase.

First staircase

The first staircase is built of stone and is under the later construction of the monumental access including the second staircase and the first apron. The first staircase is composed of three rows of stones and until further excavations are conducted it remains an open question.
