Overview

The earliest remains in J2 have been tentatively assigned to Phase 3b-J2B based on comparisons with other excavation units. An earlier, Phase 2, date can not be ruled out but until the base of the staircase is reached it is not possible to determine an absolute date.

First staircase

The first staircase is built of stone and is under the later construction of the monumental access including the second staircase and the first apron. The first staircase is composed of three rows of stones and until further excavations are conducted it remains an open question.
