2. IDENTIFICATION

Designation

Definition 2010-01-18 sC mix [Input: U118SC.j]
Description (summary) 2006-08-24 pC This feature number has been assigned to the eastern baulk of k74. f49 presents a blocky and very compact consistence, it is characterized by a fine texture and by the presence of roots; it is a bit dusty when removed. [Input: Q826PC.j]
2010-01-18 sC This feature number has been assigned to the E baulk of k74. This feature consists, stratigraphically, f24, f25, f28, and f36 i.e., the features previously dug within this locus. f24, f25, f28, and f36 are all natural accumulations and are all very similar in nature among them, being wind and water-born accumulations. We are aware that a baulk, being part of the accumulations dug in a given square, should be dug stratigrafically in order to individuate also in this portion of the locus the features found while digging the square. However, when we removed the E baulk of k74 we decided not to excavated this portion of the locus stratigraphically; we thus assigned a feature number (f49, being aware that, as such, f49 is an an 'artificial' feature) to represent all the accumulations found within this portion of the locus and in order to keep track of the pottery and of possible items or q-items recovered while removing the baulk. 3. STRATIGRAPHY

Recovery/Assignment

Roster Date Author Record
Argument 2010-01-18 sC Being f49 -stratigraphically- the sum of all the features dug in k74 (it consist of f24, f25, f28, and f36), and, as such, an 'artificial' feature, we will not have a contact association between f49 and other features: we will take into consideration only the features dug within k74 and correlate them with features of neighbouring loci on the basis of the(ir) elevation and contact association. [Input: U118SC.j]
Notes on recovery 2010-01-18 sC f49 was not excavated stratigraphically but all the q-items, pottery sherds and bone fragments have been collected in different q-lots. While studying this material must be kept in mind that it comes from different accomulations since k74 consists of f24, f25, f28, and f36, the features dug within this locus previously. Stratigraphic reasons of assignment 2010-03-10 sC Assignment based on elevation and nature of accumulation. f49 is E baulk of k74. It consists of f24, f25, f28, f36 and f56, all natural accumulations (wind- and waterborn) which contributed to the build -up of tell [Input: U310SC.j]
