Evidence

There is little direct evidence for collapse of structures in the unit. There are no ruined buildings with brickfall or nearby piles of stones. As pointed out in the above section on accretion, the incoherent mass, f136, was most likely composed of melted brick from nearby buildings. Also, the isolated stones, for example, f38, probably were carried down from collapsed structures higher on the mound.

Water erosion, VC7, has been a constant problem along the outside perimeter of the revetment wall, ^wall2. Not only were there gullies cut into existing accumulations, f164, f168, many floors associated with the monumental temple entrance ^sa1, had water channels cut into them.
