Overview

Lithic artifacts are the most representative object category in A6. Many different typologies are represented, including small and large artifacts as a blades, chipped tools and ground stone (grinding stones, pestles) and other different and less attested artifacts, such as door sockets, weights and beads.

Chipped stones

This category represents in the unit in a number of a small blades with two retouched cutting edges, made either in flint (q772.1) or in obsidian (q759.1, q1142.1 and q780.1).

Ground stones

The ground stones are very well attested in the Unit A6, they are usually made of volcanic stone some of them are half of a grind stone and slightly rounded on one side, flat on other such as q669.2, q678.1 and q1007.1. Also common stones are oval shaped volcanic stone with a flat side, the other side is rounded q1007.2.

Other lithic artifacts

There is a kind of circular stone made of black volcanic stone like i205 and q681.1, also, there are other Objects like i141 that have a hole passing through in the middle and they are interpreted as weights, and others in oval smooth shape q1017.1 and q1053.1. The door socket is attested as q763.2 in addition to unknown smooth lithics in spherical shape like i206 and i222. The large irregular shape is attested like q763.1. We have also lithic bowl i9 and (to be removed) clay lumps i19 and i74.
