This view is part of a set with v179, showing the southern baulk of k27 prior to excavation but with the two proposed columns for thin section samples scored into the surface. In reality, the sample blocks of soil did not come only from these two columns. The consistency of the soil (primarily hardness and fractures) conditioned the location from which the samples were chosen, and this sometimes required us to move our samples further west. v180a is missing; there was an error on the photographer's part, and it was somehow never taken or was lost. v180b shows the entire a32 south baulk, both k27 and k26, together, to give a sense of perspective. |
