Back to top: Volumetric data ("topography") for unit A16 Loci
Introduction
For our approach to volumetry see the relevant section in the Grammar.
A16 is not constituted of a very extended area, counting 8 regular (5x5 meters) loci. The total surface is about 200 squared meters, but we need to remember it was excavated for only two seasons and the context typology was very articulated and complex. Some special loci were shaped following the space in between the numerous structures, other were created to have a better care of the stratigraphy.

Main loci (squares)
There are eight main loci, each corresponding to one 5x5 meter square. Three squares (k1, k5, k6) were already in part excavated in 1999 as part of Unit A13.

Special loci: northern portion of northern squares
Three temporary loci (k102, k103, k104) were opened within k2, k3 and k4.

Special loci: asymmetrical loci in upper levels
Three asymmetrical loci (k105, k106, k107) were opened between structures within the upper levels of the unit.

Special loci: top loci in lower levels
When the strategy changed an we decide to excavate only the western portion of A16 (lower A16).

Special loci: bottom loci in lower levels
During the second excavation season new smaller loci (k201)-k210) were created in lower A16 to facilitate the excavation.
