Stationary elements and contact associations

Emplacement refers to discrete physical elements as they appear when excavated, independently of any subsequent typological understanding. We focus here on stationary elements, in the four distinct categories described in the principles of stratigraphic analysis.

While elements are defined statically, they are seen dnamically in relationship to each other, depending on the contact associations which they exhibit in the ground, as defined by ten possible verbs.
