sherd that is virtually a vertical section of a small, painted, carinated bowl. The sides is high relative to diameter. Side more or less vertical, perhaps slightly inturned. Simple rim is sharply folded out. Not slipped, and slighly smoothed. Appears to have calcite temper. Rim diameter estimated to be 8cm. Exterior color is 10YR7/4, very pale brown. Interior color estimated to be between 10YR7/4 and 10YR6/4, light yellowish brown. Painted decoration consists of two horizontal bands, one at the outturn of the rim and one at the turn between the side and the bottom. The bands are connected by a repeated series of four interlocking triangular shapes around the circumference. Paint color is 10YR4/2, dark grayish brown. The ceramic analyst, Hammadi, performed a standard Shape Sherd Analysis whose results are repeated here. [Input: M914JW1.j] |
