this view is from the north and taken from the top of wall f72. The full extent of the excavated pebble surface, f232 can be seen. The cut in the foreground is not artificial but actually where the surface ends. It follows the east west line which is also echoed by the stones seen to the east and west of the edge. The far baulk shows well the horizontal deposition of the higher layers. This surface is almost certainly dated to the late Khabur period since all accumulations above were Mitanni.
