Introduction

The sealings (whether original sealings or derived from existing seals) are listed here in the alpha-numeric sequence of the TGL label assigned to each sealing. The code is based on what is deemed to be the major theme.

Each label contains the prefix TGL for Topical GLyptics, followed by the symbol ^ which indicates a typological label.

The suffix consists of two letters and a number. The two letters define the main theme of the seal. The number is the sequential number of the elements within that particular theme.

The two letters refer to a primary and, where pertinent, a secondary theme. For instance:

  • TGL^a refers to arts and crafts without any fuirther distinction
  • TGL^ct refers to courtiers of king Tupkish
