it is very apparent that the accumulations on the north and south sides of the wall, f188 are very different. The south is soft, brown accumulation at the base of the wall, and to the north is hard, dense bricky material. The southern part is similar to the accumulation found throughout the area and the sections show this. The accumulations found north of the wall are specific to this area and may represent a specific purpose for the wall. There is no evidence of a street or any other living or working area. The reason for keeping up the wall is unclear and it's original reason is unclear. We do believe there was an original building, possibly 3rd millenium, and a later maintenance of the wall when larger stones were added along the same lines. These larger stones sit on definitely 2nd millennium accumulation, f190. [Input: P904MS.j] |

Today we have taken away the little Mitanni wall in front of the retaining wall of the terrace, cleaning the eastern and the western section of the old k103 we were able to do some hypothesis about the relationship between the two walls and the nature of the accumulation between them. In the western section in particular (under f167) and down the bottom of f188 we can actually see a series of ashy layers and bricky reddish ones (f195, III mill), mixed with pieces of bakaia, sloping toward south in line with the same slope of the sandy layers (f151) in the east section of k106. When f195, on wich f188 sits, approaches the bottom of the wall it mixes with the soft brown rich in charcoals similar to f184 in k106: it is curious how the end of f195 seems to mark a boundary of two different accumulations and on this boundary the Mitanni made the little wall in front of the big one. This situation seem to have parallels in J2 where the little Mitanni wall is farest from the big wall that in J1 but it has been constructed equally where the series of ashy layers and bricky reddish ones ends.
