Description (summary)	2008-09-06	rE	We found this feature after intensive cleaning to the area. It's mud brick pieces form several lines, having east-west orientation, but not in organised way. The size of the mud brick pieces are not the same. They are located to the south of k127 next to the base of the wall under the early escarpment f196, and f239 covers the southern part of it due to the slope of the area. This area we excavated 3 years ago. gB suggested that f296 could be the foundation of the early escarpment f196. It could be also a floor or something related to the early line of stones we found in the small trench k128. [Input: S813RE.j]
Description (summary)	2009-07-28	lC	Layer with many broken red mud bricks. The top part is very granular and reddish in color. Many lines were detected last year, but actually it is an unorganized mass of broken mud bricks used as a fill for the construction of the second escarpment. Going down the feature is greyer in colour, but the texture is still the same. Many sherds and burnt bones were uncovered. It is very similar to f294. [Input: T718LC.j]

It is still similar from what above, with a yellow soil full of red mud brick chunks, with small patches of brown pure clay, ashy lenses and burnt staff. It is easily recognizable from the other features, like the early escarpment f196 much greyer and compact, and like the sloping surface to the south, resting above a layer with the same hardness but black in color and almost made of ash. 	2009-08-01	lC	Today we continued to remove this layer. At the beginning it was the same of yesterday both in colour and composition. It was easy to remove it uncovering the blackish ashy sloping surface of f317. Then it became darker with a bigger amount of clay patches and lenses of burnt material, that made to distinguish it more difficult. We arrived almost at the same level of the lower stones of f288. Tomorrow we will just scrape it or remove a little bit more to see what below, hoping that the cut is not going deeper. [Input: T731LC.j]
	2009-08-02	lC	Today we removed just few centimetres of this accumulation to probe the presence of more stones belonging to the wall f288 that so far there aren't. The feature is still the same, with many broken mud bricks, but is getting darker and with more ash. If so far was easy to distinguish the filling from what around now it is more difficult. Tomorrow in the daily meeting we will decide how to proceed. [Input: T731LC.j]
Argument	2009-09-11	lC	Last year this feature was uncovered and interpreted perhaps as the bottom of the early escarpment, because of the many mud brick fragments. This season it turned to be still part of the fill of the second escarpment. The pottery, as mKB shows, is exactly the same of the features above, moreover in section is still clearly visible the ancient ED III cut f321 with the following fill. The only difference with f294 is the different direction from which the material was brought. As shown from v394 the fill f294 was brought from the south, while the fill f296 was very likely throw from the top of the revetment wall f72. [Input: T831LC.j]
