first composition:seated person facing right, 1 leg of the seat decorated with an animal hoof visible, skirt of seated figure has pointed scallops, table with two curving animal legs ending in hoofs, top of table is thicker than the portion over the legs, placed on top of table are two smaller rectangular objects positioned approximately over the legs, on top of these is a long thin oval, these three objects are presumably food offerings to a seated diety or a human figure. standing on the opposite side of the table is a human figure facing right dressed in a calf length garment that may have a wide border along the bottom. The head of this figure is round but with a small globular extension at the base of the back of the neck indicating that the hair is worn in a bun. This figure extends one arm (not clear if right or left as only one arm is visible) over the table and is holding a small necked jar in the outstretched hand. The hand holds the jar from the bottom of the globular vessel body. There is an unclear shape in front of the jar and touching the topmost object on the table. It is unclear if this shape is part of the food? on the table or is a liquid being poured from the jar. composition two: Behind this standing figure is a rampant lion facing right with his tail raised in a curving line that follows the shape of his back but curves in the opposite direction near the head to reflect the curve of the head of the standinmg figure. It is the gentle double curvature of the tail that visually links the two compositions. The head of the lion is probably seen in profile but this is not completely clear. If so he has his mouth open but any figure immediately in front of the mouth is broken. One heg is extended forward (probably holding onto his prey) but the paw is broken. Below id part of a scorpion. [Input: S825MKB.j] |
