Deposition

Roster Date Author Record
Notes on deposition 2006-09-14 jW This collection of a faience pendant and a number of beads were all found within a radius of 50cm. They were all at the same elevation in a matrix consisting of hard-packed laminations containing sherds and small stones. There was no obvious container. The find spot was about 100cm south of the south face of the revetment wall, f11 and about 50cm below its top. Preliminary analysis of the pottery shows that it was Mittani. We conclude from these facts that it is likely that the pendant and beads formed a necklace which was dropped and not retrieved. It must have been quickly covered. The most likel time of deposition was in Stratum 13, Phase 6b in the Mittani period. [Input: Q914JW.j]
