General layout
The main page is framed by the blue lines below top bar and alongside the left bar. The page scrolls as needed. The top and left bars are described separately.
Additional frames are opened as needed within the main frame, either as horizontal rows (see their main use in function of the inquiry paths) or as vertical columns (when further topical subdivisions must be added to the items in the left bar, as in the case of the human figurines).

Path and authorship
At the very top of the page (i.e., immediately below the top bar), the logical path for the page is given. The number to the right of the sequence refers to the file label for the current page. The higher nodes have descriptive, rather than numeric, labels, which match the entries on the left bar. They can be accessed as links (identified by the color purple).
Immediately below the logical path, there is first a number, that corresponds to the current version of this page. This is followed by the name of author of the page and the date when the entry has been created and posted. An extra date in a following line indicates that the page has been just technically updated.

Links
Active links are given in blue, and visited links in purple. Links are not underlined, but underlining appears when the cursor hovers above an active link.

Photos and graphics
By clicking on photos and graphics that are embedded in a page, a larger version of the image is displayed either as an inset or as a full screen version. The caption on this page gives detailed information about the image, as follows:
- The first entry, in bold face, defines the subject. The first line gives the label, followed, where useful, by a brief description.
- The second entry provides archival information. The first line gives the registration number of the image, followed by the date and by the name of the photographer or draftsperson. The second line gives the file label of the image.
To avoid excessive time lags in downloading, images given on the main page are in low resolution, and those on the separate display page in medium resolution. Most images will be available in high resolution on fixed media (CDs or DVDs) or server.
