1992-07-05 rK we currently have 6 squares open. 3 of them are past topsoil, into the level of hard ac or brickfall (k167-169), the other 3 are new from which all topsoil has not yet been removed. rK and sT have primary responsibility to supervise work in this area. [Input: C7-1-D.J]
1997-06-12 dns Excavations in area A6 will take place in two squares, k22 and k30. In k22, excavations ended last year in the accumulation above the floor, and the expectation is that we will find a number of sealings near the floor surface, to mirror the finds in room B1. Excavation in k30 should help to articulate the extent of building AK to the E. The orientation for the new squares is now parallel with the walls of AK rather than continuing with the AS orientation (the step trench), which was slightly oblique to the walls of AK. 1997-07-02 rK The top of this area (k31) had been excavated during MZ9 as area A8. The excavated depth was close to the sod layer at the W, but almost a meter below the surface at the E. [Input: H708RK.J]
