Description (summary) 2003-08-31 jl This layer is equivalent to f97 in k100. It is the layer of soil in k1 in which we first glimpsed the white reed matting layers. Presumably, it marks the final phase of a connection between the platform and the api, and A14's use as a processional way between the two. [Input: N831JL.j]
Notes on description 2003-09-07 jl This layer was incorrectly labelled, as the white reed matting layers in k1. In fact, f99 was the soil surrounding the white layers, where the reed matting had not been preserved. It is the series of (presumed) floor surfaces associated with f161, the actual number of the white reed matting layers. In order to see multiple layers of the reed matting, we excavated within f99 after we found the topmost preserved white layers of f161, independently of the white layers associated with each surface, and therefore (since the white layers were the only indications that we possessed of separate layers of accumulations) independently of separate accumulations.
