Description (summary) 2003-07-21 jl This is the soil in k100 containing white phytolith layers, presumably evidence of reed matting placed over the platform (based on our interpretation of A12k6 four seasons ago). [Input: N828JL.j]
Notes on description 2003-09-07 jl This layer was incorrectly labelled, as the white reed matting layers in k100. In fact, f97 was the soil surrounding the white layers, where the reed matting had not been preserved. It is the series of (presumed) floor surfaces associated with f161, the actual number of the white reed matting layers. We tried to excavate f97 according to the layers of accumulation associated with the reed matting layers, but stopped at gb's recommendation, since he wanted to see all of the preserved areas of white reed matting in sequence across the square, if possible.
