Description | 2006-9-14 | mS | layer of hard compact soil gray soil under f226. This is full of pebbles and sherds and the same as what we were calling the multi-layer, f203. =1 f203. [Input file: Q912MS.J / Q912MS.-J] |
2006-9-15 | mS | contains a large number of frit beads, grinding stones and other signs of human habitation but with no context so it is clearly a wash from another area. [Input file: Q916MS.J / Q916MS.-J]
2006-9-25 | mS | this accumulation was primarily the hard compact material full of sherds and stones. In k118 we also included a few cm of transitional brown accumulation below it as f229. We have done this consistently throughout J1. [Input file: Q916MS.J / Q916MS.-J]
2006-10-8 | mS | this feature is extremely dense and full of stones and sherds. We think it may be water deposit but the density and compactness leads kD to believe that there is also a lot of human traffic which help to compact the material. There are no real surfaces or installations apparent so this fits in with it being an outdoor area, the later plaza. [Input file: QX08MS1.J / QX08MS1.-J] |

Stratigraphic reasons | 2006-10-5 | mS | this accumulation is full of sherds, stones, bones and is extremely hard and dense. We are considering this part of the upper accumulations against the wall because it is so different from the soft brown accumulation below. There are more water borne deposits of sandy material and smooth stones. The pottery is Mitanni but not as decorative as the layer below. [Input file: QX04MS.J / QX04MS.-J] |
Typological reasons | 2006-10-5 | mS | The pottery is Mitanni [Input file: QX04MS.J / QX04MS.-J] |
Other reasons | 2006-10-5 | mS | This accumulation is at an elevation where only half the height of the wall would be visible. [Input file: QX04MS.J / QX04MS.-J] |
