Introduction

Overall map

The composite sections are not so numerous in J1 because the regular loci have been used for just a short period (two seasons). These sections refer to the uppermost levels, including topsoil and natural accumulations without any structure. Everything worth note is visible in the large eastern section showing the entire succession found in J1. It is impossible to have a East-West complete section in J1 because different loci have been used and we don’t have a section (to the North the baulk is formed by the revetment wall). The south section could be drawn, but it does not show anything very important, just flat accumulations and deposits and it could in case be drawn in the future.

Several single sections have been drawn because showing important stratigraphic relationships. In the following map are shown only loci with sections presented in the sections below.

The location of the individual sections is given below.

The great eastern section

The eastern section is the most important in J1. Is a composite section including many differents drawn shifted portions. It shows all the sequence inside the plaza from its use during Ninevite 5 Period to the very end of the Mitanni period with its abandonment. Moreover it shows the relationships of the Early and the Late Escarpments with the Revetement Wall and the presence of the possible Ninevite 5/Late Chalcolithic wall and accumulations.
