Description/Count
description (summary) 2005-8-29 jW Layer of compacted soil between compacted fill, f38, and the highest extant surface of bakhia, f50, in the western section of k12. Not differentiated from f38 during excavation, it has the same stratigraphic position as compacted fill, f42, in the eastern half of the locus, but differs in texture and color, being ashy brown. 2012-10-07 jW Natural accumulation below accumulation f38. The first accumulation atop EDIII glacis f50. Equal to accumulation f42. [Input File: Wx07jW.j]
typological reasons for assignment 2012-10-07 jW No ceramics or items recovered because this feature was only seen in section after excavation. [Input File: Wx07jW.j]
other reasons, reservations, qualifications 2006-4-26 jW Seen only in section. [Input File: Q426jW.j]
2012-10-07 jW What we can say is that this feature was deposited on the surface of the baqaya glacis f50 before accumulation f38. We speculate that the EDIII glacis was kept clean for several successive periods of occupation, which accounts for the general lack of ceramics and items in this covering accumulation. Since we know that general preservation of the EDIII temple mound structures began to lag in the Mittani period, we assign an early Mittani stratum to this feature. [Input File: Wx07jW.j]
