Lenses
There are 27 accumulations in J7, the majority (21) of which are natural lenses (lens d). As the area remained open it is expected to find it filled up gradually with natural accumulations deposited by wind and water.
There is one lens, f13, which is a relatively flat accumulation of sherds and pebbles, however, none of the sherds or pebbles were lying flat so it is assumed that this feature was either a dump or a natural accumulation caused by water.
The remaining 5 accumulations are assigned to topsoil, a very specific type of lens that refers to the top accumulations of the tell. These accumulations are often contaminated with modern materials.
