Introduction

For a brief overview of the contents of the clips, see the Synopsis.

Video clips are used in a documentary mode to highlight, through motion, moments that illustrate specific aspects of the record.

They are recorded as visuals along with the still photographs, and thus in principle they can be referred to as “views.” However, given their special nature, their relative infrequency, and their largely sitewide relevance, they are not normally included in the standard UGR formalization. Rick Hauser, a member of the senior staff and a filmmaker, has prepared an introductory essay that explains our approach to the crafting of films (and the posting of “videos”, as some are customarily called) for the Urkesh website. Click here to continue your exploration of these ideas.

The clips are listed here with a brief indication of their content, and they are then invoked wherever desirable within the Urkesh website or the UGR.

The distinction between film and video clips relates to whether the clip has been edited or not.

The primary list assigns numbers in the sequential order in which they have been posted.

The topical list sorts the video clips in relationship to their content.

For each clip, a separate file is invoked that gives a more detailed description of the clip and then allows to start viewing it.

Do note the links in each section. They provide either more information about the event or related information that may be helpful in interpretation. It is rare that such occurrences are documented with live footage; thus the importance of these links.

Please note: some of the clips are quite large and may require some time to load.
