2. IDENTIFICATION

Designation

Roster Date Author Record
Description (summary) 2002-09-15 jl This feature is a small platform that was left at the south-eastern edge of k27. It was first observed as the eastern boundary of f387, the ash layer, and was distinctly different: whereas f387 was grey and crumbly, f395 was a smooth light brown. In its lower levels, it changed considerably. It acquired dark, thick ashy patches, hard but grainy red parts, dirty brown parts like f384, and the soft fissure fill along the edge. While at points, their boundaries were very clear, at others they merged indistinguishably. Because it was so confused, we dug it as one feature, since we could not differentiate it clearly.
