2. IDENTIFICATION

Labeling

Roster Date Author Record
Notes on labeling 2010-01-16 sC We are aware that a baulk, being part of the accumulations dug in a given square, should be dug stratigrafically in order to individuate also in this portion of the locus the features found while digging the square. However, when we removed the N baulk of k63 we decided not to excavated this portion of the locus stratigraphically; we thus assigned a feature number (f39, being aware that, as such, f39 is an an 'artificial' feature) to represent all the accumulations found within this portion of the locus and in order to keep track of the pottery and of possible items or q-items recovered while removing the baulk. Definition 2010-01-16 sC mix [Input: U116SC.j]
Description (summary) 2010-01-16 sC This feature number has been assigned to the N baulk of k63. The feature consists, stratigraphically, of f22, f23, f26, f29 and f37, i.e., the features previously dug within this locus. f22, f23, f26, f29 and f37 (and top portion of f67) are all natural accumulations and are all very similar in nature among them, being wind and water-born accumulations. f67 is a feature that belongs to the erosion of the tell surface and is partially a brick-melted accumulation, and as such, is probably part of the 'dump^1', a brick-melt accumulation, that interested the south area of J04 in the Late Mittani Period. 3. STRATIGRAPHY

Recovery/Assignment

Roster Date Author Record
Argument 2010-01-16 sC Being f39 -stratigraphically- the sum of all the features dug in k63 (it consists of f22, f23, f26, f29 and f37), and, as such, an 'artificial' feature, we will not have a contact association between f39 and other features: we will take into consideration only the features dug within k63 and correlate them with features of neighbouring loci on the basis of the(ir) elevation and contact association. [Input: U116SC.j]
Notes on recovery 2010-01-16 sC f39 was not excavated stratigraphically but all the q-items, pottery sherds and bone fragments have been collected in different q-lots. While studying this material must be kept in mind that it comes from different accomulations since f39 consists of f22, f23, f26, f29 and f37, the features dug within this locus previously. Stratigraphic reasons of assignment 2010-03-10 sC f39 is the N baulk of k63. It consists of f22, f23, f26, f29, f37. These are all natural accumulations (wind- and waterborn) which contributed to the build -up of the tell. Assignment based on nature and elevation of accumulations [Input: U310SC.j]
