Evolution 2010-01-21 sC On the basis of the excavations carried out in J06 unit, located immediately south to the area where J04 unit was set (J06 unit subsumed some J04 loci, i.e., J04k64-84 and thus k100), it is now possible to better define this feature, rich in brick fragments. f121 is part of the extended brick-fall named as bf^1 and bf^2 found throughout the whole J06 unit (and partially in the J07 unit as well) during the 2007-8 excavation seasons (bf^1 is a brickmelt accumulation and it is the topmost face -in its top 70 cm- of bf^2). The brickfall bf^2 in J06 is thought to be originated from structures of small buildings located on the east respect the area where J06 unit was set, which could possibly be connected with the residencial area C2 (cfr. J06 bf^2); the collapse of these structures, defined as brickfall bf^2, covered a vast area, today falling within the portion of the tell mound where J06, J07 and J02 units were set. k100 was subsumed in the 2008 excavation season within J06 unit as J6k84, and re-examinated. Thus, different features numbers have been attribuited -while digging in this locus in the last two years- respect to the layers already found in the 2006 excavation season. The topmost portion of f121 seems to be the same as J6f53 and J6f55; while the portion of f121 'located' at the elevation of 89.70 (and below) seems to be the same of J6f164. J6f53 and J6f55 are part of the brickfall bf^2 and are characterized by the presence of complete bricks and brick fragments (these are thought to come from a structure located on the east, perhaps in J6k74). On the basis of the elevation, and being f121 similar -in its soil matrix- to features J6f53 and J6f55, I think that the top portion of f121 is the same as J6f53 and J6f55, and thus, it is possible to ascribe the top portion of this feature to s19b and s19c (Phase 63-MZA). In the bottom portion, i.e., in the last 10cm, f121, instead, is the same of f150, and, the same of J06 f164 as well, this on the basis of the elevation: top elevation J06 f164 is 88.65, bottom elevation of J04 f121 is 88.54. On the basis of the elevation and of the similarity of the soil matrix between f121 with J06 f164, it is possible to ascribe the lower portion of f121 to s49 (Phase 32-MZA). [Input: U121SC.j]
Notes on recovery 2010-03-01 sC f121 slopes sharply toward the south portion of the locus; for this reason, the top elevation in the north portion of the locus differs quite a lot from the top elevation in the south portion of the locus, as visible in view v84 and related subviews; there is aproximately 100cm of difference in elevation. The bottom elevation of f121 given here, has been taken aprox. 50cm from the south baulk, therefore, the bottom elevation of the feature in the south baulk of the locus should be aproximately 20cm lower than 88.46, as visible in v84a and v84c and v94. v84c and v94 show cleary well the slope of the feature in the south portion k100.
