Introduction
The overall methodology in the UGR is to be as transparent as possible concerning available information, analyses and review of data. Wherever possible, we therefore keep track of any changes or corrections made, how data have been analysed and presented, and any known or suspected gaps in the data. Such are noted for individual records where relevant, but some comments are more general concerning certain types of data, and these can be found here.
K1 was excavated in 1984 and 1985 as part of the earliest IIMAS excavations at Tell Mozan. While the recording system was already well-developed and consistent, the existing data are not entirely complete, and much of what has been included here, especially on the right-hand side, are based on extant handwritten notes and similar files. On this page, comments on each of the sections are provided - not so much on errors as on possible missing information.

Loci
These records are based on non-canonical handwritten notes from mKB. They are thus unlikely to be complete, but do offer basic information about some of the loci of this unit and their constituents.

Features
The features have been added from a machine-printed log of the features themselves, which only contained limited short descriptions for selected features. Additional snippets of information comes from handwritten notes. It is possible that some features are missing. All available data have been included.

Q-lots
The q-lots have been added from 1) a machine-printed log of the lots themselves, which only contained limited short descriptions for selected lots, and 2) from ceramic sheets/drawings, where q-lot and feature are sometimes both recorded. In some cases, the feature from the log and from the ceramic sheets: in these cases, not enough information is available to determine which is the correct contact association, so both have been kept. Overall, however, it it likely that the q-lot log is more reliable for this information.
Some q-lots were not recorded in the available logs or anywhere else, but have ceramic sherds assigned to them. Their precise definition is thus lacking at present.
All available data have been included.

Ceramics
The ceramics included here under qp on the righthand side come from scanned handwritten ceramic analysis sheets filled in by mKB during the excavations (see also the Ceramics page [ADD LINK]). These have been entered into Excel sheet, following as much as possible the current format used for ceramic analysis. Handwritten sheets are only available from the 1985 season, and here also some q-lots are not present, so some data are certainly absent from what is presented here.

Recording dates
In some cases, the date that a record was made has been lost. This is usually noted in the specific record.
In other cases, only the year a record or observation was made is known: in these cases, the correct year has been used, and an artificial date of 1 January has been added.

Correlation tables
The system of labelling has naturally developed over the years of excavation, and in the first seasons, when K1 was excavated, slightly different labels were used; another set of labels was also used for Mozan 1, where K1 was published. These other labels are noted in the individual records, but the following correlation tables have been created to facilitate identifying items.
