Size and volume of excavations

Not all of loci and squares were excavated from the topsoil. Not all of them reached the same bottom elevation. The western suqares (k71-75 and k64, k65) had already been excavated as J2 and J4 Units to a depth of about one meter. Here, we were able to remove about 50cm of soil. The eastern loci k82-k87 were excavated deeper, especially k84-k85, where we reached the bottom of the staircase flank wall and the the first step of the staircase. In J6 we removed about 400 cubic meters of soil.
