Introduction
In the case of Mozan the initial impulse to conserve the walls was not preceded by any particular study, and it was rather carried out non only concurrently, but in close integration with the archaeological process. So the guiding principles developed more intuitively and on the basis of common sense than in function of a clearly spelled out plan.
As it fortunately happened, however, all the major criteria that are identified in the literature (see especially Agnew 2001, Palumbo 2001) were operative in one way or another. They are identified below.
