Description/Count
description (summary) 2008-8-16 lC The drain f83 was partly uncovered below a layer of accumulation f81. The drain has a probable semicircular shape running from north-west to east. It is built with hard gray clay, small stones and vertical yellow/orange bricks. The drain is still in part to be excavated so its shape is not yet completely clear. It is related to the pebble pavement south of it and to the installation f96 to the north. It doesn't seem to have a sharp slope but is slightly oriented towards the east. [Input File: S816lC.j]

Recovery/Assignment
daily notes 2008-8-06 lR The cobblestone pavement was removed after breakfast today with another pavement found below, f80. While cleaning the pavement, a possible drain surfaced f83 constructed of reddish clay with large white inclusions, similar to packing material found under houses and often associated with drains. fAB mentioned that this clay is water tight and thus used as a sealant. The area is still undefined, with only a small portion with a channel exposed. Another pavement is surfacing next to this drain, possibly associated with it with f80. [Input File: S806lr.j]
strategy (projected or implemented) 2008-8-10 lR Discussed with fAB the possibility of removing the drain installation in k13, including f80 stone pavement and f81 accumulation over the pavement. Today we relayed the drain to create a template for a drawing. The advantages of removing the drain would be to expose the next phase below while coming towards the south of f105 and f41 wall. We are under the assumption that the drain is a later phase associated with the tannur f42 and pavement f35 which was removed yesterday. We plan to discuss this strategy with gB at the next meeting.
